Hey guys so I need to change my address which would go from a NY to a NJ address which leads to a NJ license. is it true that if you do this then the license would be suspended for three days in NY? That's what someone in the office told me which would lead to 3 days I can't work. I can't make any sense of it but I know a lot of you guys live in NJ so is that true?

The state will launch a multi-agency plan that includes active recruitment of new hires to address the school bus driver shortage across New York, Governor Kathy Hochul announced Sunday.

The state's plan includes short-term steps to remove barriers and recruit traditional and non-traditional Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders, expand CDL testing opportunities, and enhance processes designed to get more drivers into school buses.
Additionally, New York State is launching outreach to more than 550,000 CDL license holders in New York.

Michael Cordiello, president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1181 told the New York Daily News last month that the city could experience the same work shortages plaguing other yellow school bus systems across the country. The union represents half of school bus drivers, matrons and mechanics.

Just heard from a matron that Andrew said today that drivers/matrons are going to need a weekly Covid test or vaccinated....

The New York City Department of Education released its academic calendar for the 2021-2022 school year today.

Two practices from the 2020-2021 school year will remain in effect.
Severe weather closures will not cancel learning, and instead students will shift to remote instruction.

Election Day, being held on Nov. 2, 2021, will be a remote, asynchronous instructional day for all students and a professional development day for teachers. The decision is pending to change if additional guidance is given from the New York State Education Department.

Two new changes are also being made in observed holidays for the upcoming school year.

The non-attendance day on Oct. 11 will be in observance of Indigenous People's Day and the non-attendance day of June 20, 2022 will be in observance of Juneteenth.

The goal is for all children to safely return to full-time in-person learning on Sept. 13.

Hey guys so I did my exams last year in a group of 20. I believe this one coming up is going to be with Owen 1 on 1 so I have just a few questions.

1) for the pre-trip part is it the basic daily routine we do making sure all of our lights, buttons, alarms are working inside and outside of the bus? I took the new CDL exam to get hired two years ago and I had to go under the hood, does Owen make us do that part as well? Do we have to do the brake test as well? I'm just asking so I know if I need to brush up on that part?

2) for the physical exam what does it mean "wheel to control to wheel dexterity in 8 seconds for each" am I allowed to ask him to show me what I need to do for that because I never did the physical exam before lol.

Parked my bus near my house on the corner. Walking back to my house I saw this behind the bus on the corner from where I parked. Not sure if it's bus related. I asked my dad who's a former mechanic/driver and he said he doesn't know what it is but doesn't look bus related? What do you guys think in the photos attached.....

My check this week had no medical or pension taken out just union dues, is that because it wasn't a guaranteed week only worked two days due to RJJ shutting down for the snow ?
